The second unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu was launched on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin also laid the foundation concrete for the third and fourth reactors of the nuclear plant through video-conferencing from Goa, where both leaders met on the sidelines of the 8th BRICS summit. India and Russia plan to collaborate on eight more reactors in future.
The two sides had also negotiated on a “Credit Protocol” about the Kudankulam plant’s units 5 and 6.
